ZXZW supports convicted The Pirate Bay

We just found out that The Pirate Bay is found guilty on all four charges. Earlier this week we posted about them being confident they were not to be convicted.

Now all four members of the Pirate Bay have been found guilty and convicted to one year in jail. While the court did not agree with the plaintiff’s estimates of losses (around $12m), it still set the damages at 30 million SEK ($3,620,000). Read all about it here.

The site, however will not be taken down, as the site was not sued, only the people behind it.

We at ZXZW want to state that we support the spreading of free music, and therefor The Pirate Bay. Free access to music is very important  for the develepment of culture worldwide, in our view.

Proud to be dutch

Do you know that feeling when you are proud of your nationality? Obama winning the elections, the bringing down of the Berlin wall, winning the football (or soccer if you like) world cup, the participating of thousands of fellow countrymen in a meaningful demonstration against all that is wrong in the world, etcetera. Watching the video above is one of those moments for us at ZXZW.

So we say: we are proud to come from a country that makes art like this!

Tip of the week: Dananananaykroyd

It was Indie Thursday at the ZXZW office yesterday. For a few weeks in a row now, the Glasgow based band Dananananaykroyd is in the top of our playing charts of this weekly celebration of indie music.

Their debut album ‘Hey Everyone’ hit the stores last week and got some really great reviews from renowned e-zines and we really agree to the words written there. They supported on the last European Kaiser Chiefs tour and did a great job. Really a lot of energy and fun on stage, two singers, two drummers and a pretty girl on bass.

Btw, the band name’s referring to the US comedian Dan Aykroyd. Check them out and be impressed. They are going to be THE band of 2009!
