Modern dance. Modern. Mo – dern.

A performance that explores the borderline between watching and seeing. A choreography without recognizable space patterns.

Concept: Sonja Augart/ Fragmenta

Frau Augart is also the dance programmer at ZXZW,  We are eagerly awaiting what cool stuff she will bring Tilburg in September!

Meeting contemporary composed music in a place that is nothing like the average high-brow concert hall. That is what Kraaklink is about. Having a beer in a relaxing atmosphere while listening to interesting music made by musicians under 35y whose innovative music is constructed by young composers (below 40 years of age). This makes it one of the most interesting programs of ZXZW, aiming to bring contemporary composed music to those who would want to see it: a relaxed and interested audience.

Artist Exposed: Aluk Todolo

Aluk Todolo will play Sunday 20 September.

Experimental black metal influenced by people such as Hermann Nitsch and Albin Julius (Der Blutharsch). With the goal to create a timeless, organic mix of krautrock’s strangeness and black metal’s coldness, Aluk Todolo conjures rabid obsessive rhythms and abyssal disharmonic guitars. Subliminal spiritualist vibrations and bizarre, magick summonings. Very dark. Very scary. Very nice.

We saw them last weekend at the amazing Worm venue in Rotterdam. We got a lot of blackdronenoise and were very happy they handed out earplugs.

Special: Neurotic Deathfest (Part 4 of 5)

mumakil

Since Neurotic Deathfest is taking place in our beloved Tilburg tomorrow, we dedicate this week’s special to this very cool death metal festival!

Whereas ZXZW 2009 has Impure Wilhelmina including ex-Knut members, Neurotic Deathfest has also an ex-knut members band. By the name of Mumakil these Swiss dudes try to destroy everything around them sonically. If you like your metal full of ultra high speed, aggression and not too long, you should check Mumakil out this weekend.

Artist Exposed: Manatees

Manatees

The series of Artist Exposed for the ZXZW 2009 fest, highlights the artists you definitely do not want to miss! Click the tag Artist Exposed for more posts!

Manatees will play Sunday 20 September.

Darkness. Thick layers of filthy blackness. Escape is not an option. Covered by the slime that is actually dripping from the sound. It’s filling the room that seems to get smaller and smaller. The speakers cry by the sheer volume. Hypnotizing rhythms providing the groundwork for the dissonant screeching guitars and the vocals that come from deep within. Those places would be better left covered. Nothing left to do but to stand, watch and be carried away by the waves of these Manatees.

New Troum album released!

Troumealdgestreon

On their MySpace, ZXZW 2009 artists Troum said the following::

“Dear Troumsters, finally our new album has seen the daylight! EALD-GE-STREON is a collection of various tracks mainly coming from analogue 8-track-sources and used for several live-programmes through the last years, all re-worked and re-mastered. It features a powerful cover-version of SAVAGE REPUBLICs classic “Procession”, and has a stunning artwork with rarely used and difficult to print metallic colours designed by STEPHEN O’MALLEY. The first 500 copies have a bonus CD with the epic track ABHIJNA.”

Design, layout and artwork (seen above) by Stephen ‘Sunn O)))’ O’Malley.
