Artist Exposed: Deutsch Nepal

The series of Artist Exposed for the ZXZW 2009 fest, highlights the artists you definitely do not want to miss! Click the tag Artist Exposed for more posts!

Deutsch Nepal will play Sunday 20 September.

Being the boss of your own label must be great. You get to release only the stuff you like. Just as we program the bands we like. This is your chance to see if the founder of the famous Cold Meat Industry label can create some good music himself. We can tell you right now: Deutsch Nepal makes ambient industrial of the highest quality, like Raison D’Etre and In Slaughter Natives. Deep, disturbing and dark.

You can throw your sunglasses away, after this performance you will see the world a couple of shades darker.

Deutsch Nepal is on tour with Der Blutharsch and Bain Wolfkind. ZXZW 2009 artists Aluk Todolo help organize the show for this tour in Paris.

Artist Exposed: Aluk Todolo

Aluk Todolo will play Sunday 20 September.

Experimental black metal influenced by people such as Hermann Nitsch and Albin Julius (Der Blutharsch). With the goal to create a timeless, organic mix of krautrock’s strangeness and black metal’s coldness, Aluk Todolo conjures rabid obsessive rhythms and abyssal disharmonic guitars. Subliminal spiritualist vibrations and bizarre, magick summonings. Very dark. Very scary. Very nice.

We saw them last weekend at the amazing Worm venue in Rotterdam. We got a lot of blackdronenoise and were very happy they handed out earplugs.

Anti fascist punk band sued for using the double ‘S’

sskaliert

From the website of German punks SS-Kaliert:

“I’D RATHER BELIEVE IN THE VIRGINITY OF A PROSTITUTE, THAN IN THE JUSTICE OF GERMAN LAWS!!”
– Slime (Gerechtigkeit)

We couldn’t have expressed it better than German Punk-heroes Slime in their song “Gerechtigkeit” (Justice) about the following happening:
German Prosecutor sued Punkband SS-KALIERT due to the use of their logo. He claims the band to use the lightning-bolds of the Nazi SS in World War 2. This is punishable with up to 3 years in jail for the band members by German Law.

SS-KALIERT is and has always been strictly anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-nationalist. The Band uses logos such as “Good Night White Pride” or crossed out Swastikas on their websites and on their releases, clear statements in their lyrics and in every interview they give. Up until the court date SS-KALIERT will not give in and keep both logo and name as they are. We will see what happens after that. The band will be thankful for every kind of support, even if its just a short note in a fanzine/webzine, a short report on a radio station about this case or whatever.

Does this sound familiar? ZXZW 2009 band Der Blutharsch also has had some troubles with accusations of national-socialism due to their previous logo and artwork.
