This is Martijn from the interview for the ZXZW exhibition. I’m mailing you because a review of True Norwegian Black Metal has appeared in De Volkskrant recently (I have no idea why so late), one of the major Dutch dailies (like The NY Times or The Guardian.) Some radio people read the review, thought it would be interesting for their programme, googled for more info and found me. Now I have to give a talk on national radio on the book and Norwegian black metal on Radio 1, the national public news station on Monday evening between 8 and 10 (unless they cancel at the last moment.) I’ll already do my best to keep the sensationalism down and the content up.
ZXZW started off with the grand opening of Peter Beste´s exposition “True Norwegian Black Metal” at Kunstpodium T. A nice crowd showed up consisting of metal heads, local politicians and artists. Beste, who flew over from New York, sold out his book in a couple of hours, which proves his work was truly appreciated by the visitors.
If you’re coming to the Peter Beste opening we’ll treat you on some free beer.
Sorry guys, but we wanted to add some more black metal to our extensive black metal program including Peter Beste’s Norwegian black metal exhibitiont and bands like Watain, black anvil, Bunkur, The Devil’s Blood and Burial Hex. That’s why we added Funeral Goat. Von-like black metal duo from the grimm nether regions of Tilburg.
Read the program guide here and the paper here. The paper features interviews with Peter Beste, Andreas van Zoelen (on Sun Ra) and Knitta, Patchman Marco talks about his favourite bowling records and much more. You can also find the paper in town.
If you are a sitty and don’t dare to go to the Peter Beste opening you can go to the Melvins concert at Effenaar at the 14th of September. This poster is created by Tara McPherson. You can buy it at the Z-Stock exhibition during ZXZW.
