Aufgehoben will play Saturday 19th of September.

ZXZW is very honored to be able to present these Brighton/London noise structuralists next September. If you try to describe this, you cannot get any closer then Peter Marsh did:

“If you know what Francis Bacon did to Velazquez’s portrait of Pope Innocent X, then you’ll have some idea of what Aufgehoben are doing to rock music; reducing it to a violent, nightmarish smear of a thing. It’s cathartic, ugly, beautiful and hard to ignore.” (Peter Marsh, BBC Experimental Reviews)

Anti fascist punk band sued for using the double ‘S’

sskaliert

From the website of German punks SS-Kaliert:

“I’D RATHER BELIEVE IN THE VIRGINITY OF A PROSTITUTE, THAN IN THE JUSTICE OF GERMAN LAWS!!”
– Slime (Gerechtigkeit)

We couldn’t have expressed it better than German Punk-heroes Slime in their song “Gerechtigkeit” (Justice) about the following happening:
German Prosecutor sued Punkband SS-KALIERT due to the use of their logo. He claims the band to use the lightning-bolds of the Nazi SS in World War 2. This is punishable with up to 3 years in jail for the band members by German Law.

SS-KALIERT is and has always been strictly anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-nationalist. The Band uses logos such as “Good Night White Pride” or crossed out Swastikas on their websites and on their releases, clear statements in their lyrics and in every interview they give. Up until the court date SS-KALIERT will not give in and keep both logo and name as they are. We will see what happens after that. The band will be thankful for every kind of support, even if its just a short note in a fanzine/webzine, a short report on a radio station about this case or whatever.

Does this sound familiar? ZXZW 2009 band Der Blutharsch also has had some troubles with accusations of national-socialism due to their previous logo and artwork.

Artist Exposed: Knalpot

Knalpot will play Sunday 20 September.

Knalpot are Raphael Vanoli (guitar/casio/electronics) and Gerri Jäger (drums). At a push it’d be possible to sqeeze Knalpot into the punkfunkelectro bag, but the seams wouldn’t hold the duo for long. Sounding a lot more organic than other similarly tooled outfits, their music is stuffed with loops, blips and Mulder melodies.

A1 Bassline will play in the Generation Bass program Friday 18 September.

A1 Bassline is from London, UK. The man is smashing London’s bassline scene with his electro-infused brand of speed garage. He describes his style as a blend between house and garage but with some small influences of drum and bass.
