Queens of British Pop, tonight on BBC 1

A documentary about some of the most influential female artists of the ’60s and  ’70s is airing tonight at BBC 1 (22:45, local time, 23:45 Tilburg Time).

Siouxsie Sioux, Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw, Marianne Faithfull, Suzi Quatro, and Kate Bush will be featured in the first episode. The second part (next week, same time, same place) will bring Anie Lennox, Alison Moyet, Kylie Minogue, Geri Halliwell, Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis right into your home.

    If they wanted British female artist who achieved milestones for women in music and were internationally successful then they should have included Lynsey de Paul, Britain’s first successful singer/songwriter who was both an influence on Kate Bush and the writer of hits for many male artists as well as herself.
